Schmap New York

A photo I took has been chosen for the fourth edition of the online Schmap New York Guide. I’m pretty psyched, just got a note from the editor about it.

Here’s the photo. (It’s the one of the Walter Kerr Theatre). I liked the image myself because you can only see a tiny bit of the marquee – and then there was a woman hanging out on the balcony of the theatre – probably someone who worked there, a costume mistress, a prop person … just having a little break. Anyway, it’s cool, I’m psyched. (This is the full size image)

  1. Wow – you even get credit! It mysteriously says, “Photo: Sheila”. Congratulations! Millions using the map will now ask themselves, “Who is this Sheila?” Great shot. Who’s on the balcony?

  2. So cool! And a great shot! I love your eye. Did this request come through Flickr? Someone found a photo of Michelle Rodriguez I took at the most recent Marc Jacobs fashion show. They requested permission to use it in an article about her getting busted again. Ha ha ha. It’s so awesome that people who take pictures for a hobby can get published! Congratulations!!

  3. Oops. I tried to hotlink Michelle’s name to my photo and it didn’t go through. I probably messed up the code. I’m doing this pre-coffee which is always a risk. Anyhoo, here’s the photo if you’d like to see it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/curlymcdimple/1373391362/in/set-72157601996141481/

Hhmm, I remember your lament about not having a camera, now you do. What are you shooting with, can’t seem to find that info in any post…

  7. red says:

I posted about buying a camera whenever that was – March of this past year, I think. It’s been a while – I’ve been posting my pictures a lot since then.

Thanks! I’ll go back and look… guess that solidly makes me a reader and not a fanatic?

I print your male woe stories for my 17 year old daughter to read, ince she has a hard time listening to things from my age and gender. And she is convinced that she has the worst existence ever in recorded history.

Check my site if you want to see pics from the left side of the nation..

I actually don’t remember half the things I write on my blog! People reference things I said 3 years ago, and I’m like wha???? So you are not alone. :)

And lastly: I am glad that my tragic romantic life can serve as a cautionary tale. At least someone will get some good out of it.

Oh and about my camera – I got a Sony Cyber-shot. Pretty simple. But I’m happy with it.

  11. keith says:

Photography is about capturing what you see, so that you can show others. If your camera does that, then it is a perfect camera.

    Subject
    Setting
    Framing
    Lighting
    Focus

Kinda like how you write. Same but different.

Hey, I have the same kind! It’s my favorite toy now.
