Sam Shaw’s artistry: Marilyn Monroe

“Hers was the joy of being alive and loving her work: the life recalled and held out to us in these sweet, haunting reminders.”

— Sam Shaw

One of the Sam Shaw photos of Marilyn below. I like the less glamorous shots – the more casual ones. Sam Shaw, as will be obvious in most of these, preferred to use natural light. That Marilyn would allow this just goes to show you how much she trusted him.

This is one of those “she-takes-my-breath-away-with-her-beauty” pictures of Marilyn for me. And as you, I also love those rather candid ones, with natural light, not posed (although Marilyn knew her way with a camera at any time). But look at that smile… she brightens my day.
Oh, Sheila, this Marilyn fix is making wonders on me, I tell ya…

    That hair!
You can almost feel how soft it is.
