I have written before about Allison and me trying to get from Cork to Kinsale, and we were under time constraints, and then receiving the best most detailed directions in my life, from basically a group of people at a gas station in Cork. Here’s the piece.
In going through a shoebox of photos, I actually found the kick-ass written directions that that woman wrote out for us.
I love how the “hairy roundabout” she warns us of really does look truly HAIRY in her drawing of it.
Sheila – Not to one-up you because those directions cannot be topped, BUT, on the subject of the Irish and their (our) directions, my wife and I were heading to Kildare from Rathmullin in the North. Lovely signs guided us all along our way, until we got to Naas, then they abandoned us. We stopped at a gas station and asked a kind gentleman which turn to take to get us on our way to Kildare. Not only did he describe the route, he said, “follow me until I point you to your right turn and you’ll be only a few miles away. He did, we did and we had a lovely beer in our hotel in Kildare, just a stone’s throw from the Curragh (oh, that wonderful place!)
