“The Star” (1952). Bette Davis drunk-driving and talking to her Oscar is as good a way to start 2015 as any.

I am going to have a great new year, by jingo! I need it. I want it. I must have it. I own it. I Grock it. I take responsibility. I assume the mantle. I am Mildred Pierce, I know I can make that restaurant work. I am Julie Marsden, I know I can rock that red dress at the Comos ball, Henry Fonda’s opinion be damned. I am Scarlett, I will never eat muddy turnips again! I am Tracy Lord, I will figure out that the man I’m engaged to is a schmuck and the man I used to be married to is a Cary Grant look alike. And I will ask Jimmy Stewart to put me in his pocket. I am some weird metamorphic creature from another planet who looks a lot like Scarlett Johansen, and I will tempt inarticulate Scottish men into black pools of primordial death. I will live my life as if I were in a film that falls under the Netflix category of movies with a strong female lead. I will be me! I will revel in myself. I will be everything that Sheila thinks of me. Hooray 2015! I am riding you like a shining, shimmering star into the Hollywood firmament. Happy new year everyone! Love Stevie XXX.
Stevie – I don’t know, this ranks with one of the best comments ever ever ever in the history of my site!!
