Sheila,
You sound like quite a girl, and I’d never use “girl” in the sense offenssive to some. In Texas, “girl” is not a bad word and refers to many fine adults of the female gender. If you are legally blind, how do you do all you do, especially read all these books and watch all these films? Glasses? I found you on a William Blake search and liked your prose. I’m looking for a Blake quote on the responsibility of the artist, what amounts to a moral responsibility. To paraphrase him, he said that if one possesses talent,he or she must use it. Either that or suffer what amounts to Hell on earth, and eternal damnation afterward. He took his art fairly seriously, eh? Do you have a private email where I could write you? I’m not much on public posting and I have a short, short story that I just wrote for an NPR contest that I’d like to send you.
Best, Slow
Yes – glasses! A stronger prescription every year! I don’t mind the term “girl”, although “broad” or “dame” is better. :)
You can email me at gibsongirl at sheilaomalley dot com.
I get all giddy when new people discover your blog, Sheila! It’s like I can almost feel how excited they are when they take that first plunge into the O’Malley goodness. (Wow…that sounded gross! But you know what I mean!)
I love the term “broad.” In my mind, one of the highest compliments–“She is/was a great broad.”
Great pic!!
Beautiful waters… but scary too!
Incidentally, today is Barbara Stanwyck’s birthday; perhaps the ultimate ‘broad’. Love her.
I love this photo. Love it.
Water in every photo post so far–neat aquarian theme you have going! All different, all pretty in different ways.
