Another Blowsy illustration

Because my humiliation isn’t quite complete.

Here is Blowsy, on Jeremy’s shoulder – this is from when they are in the rehearsal room going over their Charleston number. I like the girl huddled over the victrola.

Also, check out the chick over to the left doing warmups. I’m sorry, but that is hilarious.

The dresses are so detailed – I think your twelve year old self must have wanted her illustrations to be 1920’s accurate.

The girl doing warm-ups appears to not be standing on the same level of floor as everyone else. Perhaps it is a very complicated jumping jack?

I love that Jeremy’s spats have remained consistent.

  2. melissa says:

Are we to read something into the ghostly face of Blowsy in the background? More Doom?

  3. red says:

Melissa – oh my God, I hadn’t noticed that – I am HOWLING with laughter right now!!! can’t stop! help!!!!

  4. red says:

Desirae – hahahaha I am now picturing that chick over to the left being airborne – in that position – and it’s quite a funny image!

  5. tracey says:

“Sally was having problems getting …..”????

    I need to know.

Control of her giant floating head? Her fingers to her toes? Her back to ever straighten?

    I am just terribly concerned.

  6. red says:

“Sally was having problems getting onto Larry’s, a tall lanky boy’s, shoulders. ”

I believe she is the sad-sack chick standing with the guy to the left of Blowsy and Jeremy. She is, at that very moment, “having problems getting onto Larry’s” shoulders.

  7. JFH says:

“…and the eyes of Dr. T.J. Blowsy looked on the rehearsal room with foreboding”

  8. red says:

“Sally was having problems understanding just what her role was in this entire narrative.”

  9. red says:

“Sally was having problems remembering the dance step with the enormous hologram of Blowsy’s head floating in her line of vision.”

  10. Kate P says:

These are very dear, Sheila! Takes me back to the days of drawing in my school classrooms.

Oh, poor Sally. . . gravity was not her friend, what with that gorgeous huge necklace keeping her down.

  11. JessicaR says:

I like the girl at the phonograph, “Maybe if I keep pretending to fiddle with this the douchebag behind me will take the hint and buzz off.”

  12. red says:

    Kate – hahahaha

Yes – maybe she could have jumped up on his shoulder if those damn BEADS weren’t holding her back!

  13. red says:

JessicaR – hahahahaha He really is looming over her. Like – learn boundaries, vaudeville boy.

  14. nightfly says:

I love that the girls all have “apostrophe eyes” but the guys just have dots… but they also get these brilliant saddle shoes so it evens out.

  15. justjack says:

They’re spats, aren’t they? The boys have spats. Cool!

Are you sure the girl on the left is doing warm-ups? Maybe she’s practicing her dance steps for the Charlie Brown Christmas party.

  16. Kate P says:

Seriously, Sheila, I remember watching a bunch of flappers dance and wondering how they didn’t knock themselves out with all those necklaces swinging around.

  17. jean says:

Oh my goodness the girl stretching is hilarious!

  18. tracey says:

I do not care for the way looming guy has his hands stuffed into his pockets WHILST he looms. He’s a little …. off.

  19. Jessi says:

I bet looming guy is Craig!

  20. dorkafork says:

I saw warmup girl’s head as though it were a stomach. So it looked like E.T. in drag.

  21. dorkafork says:

I’m still laughing, it’s a way different, and totally hilarious experience to see her head as the figure’s stomach. I clicked through to see the girl on the left and I see this faceless hunchback monkey in a dress…
