Review: Assassins (2020)

For those of you – like myself – who caught wind of the first part of this crazy story – that Kim Jong-un’s half-brother was assassinated in broad daylight by two teenage girls – and then didn’t follow along as the rest of the story unfolded throughout the trial of the two girls in 2019 – Ryan White’s Assassins is fascinating and informative. It boggles your mind. You can’t even believe it went down this way. But it did. And it makes it even more sickening when the President* shows up at the end, and sides with North Korea over the CIA. Traitor. But besides all that … can such a thing have really happened?? How do you even make sense of it, if you’re one of those girls? I reviewed Assassins for Ebert.
