Photo of the Day: Apparently I grew up in The Shire and didn’t even know it

Dawn in my parents’ neighborhood. We moved to this hood when I was 12. It was our neighborhood from then on out, and still is. It’s one of those neighborhoods where the Seasons are so apparent, there are so many trees! It’s a closed loop, so there’s no big roads, and no major traffic. It is always on the verge of being overrun by its own greenery. I have taken hundreds of photographs of this neighborhood – still do – but this is one of my favorites.

      YES! Good call! Dawn for whatever reason made the little gap between the trees into a tunnel – in normal daylight hours it looks much more normal but dawn made it magical.

    I love that there’s a specific Japanese word for dappled light through trees – komorebi.

    also the phrase ‘angel ladders’ for shafts of light through clouds.
