I am drawn to old-fashioned signs like some kind of homing pigeon. I sense them. I gravitate towards them. I scan buildings for them. It’s like “ghost signs” too. I love those. Any time the past intrudes on the present – I’m all for it. Especially aesthetically. So many iconic places in New York have shut down during the pandemic. I am not sure if this is one of them but I have a feeling this Oyster Bar is no more. One of my favorite signs in New York City.
