Brava, my dear friend!! I know it has been a gauntlet, but now is your time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. “Joy” is an operative word here…allow it, let it in. You deserve it! You are ever a marvel to me, and I am so very proud of you. “So much has been done…more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation.”
what’s that quote from? I love it!!
I think it’s perfect that the first real substantial conversation I remember us having – so long ago – was about Frankenstein – and the paper you wrote about it in college. In that little wine bar!
Love you so much. You have been such a cheerleader through all of this.
I remember that conversation and that night well. I might be romanticizing it, but it seems like it was the catalyst for our friendship…the moment when we recognized in each other a kindred spirit…a comrade in curiosity. The quote comes from whom else?? The man, the myth, the monster-maker himself, Victor Frankenstein, in Chapter 3 of Shelley’s book.
I definitely think that conversation was so important in establishing our epic friendship! the intellectual connection. and I hadn’t thought all that deeply about Frankenstein and the way you talked about it was so interesting!
and of COURSE it’s from the book!! perfect!
I can’t wait for you to see the movie.
I can’t wait either! I need to read the book again first!
Yes!! so it’s fresh. will be so curious to hear your thoughts on the adaptation!
Congratulations! These “Art of …” books are always a wonderful companion to all of GdT’s films. Cannot wait to see this next volume.
Gary – thank you!! I’m excited to see it myself!
