Last line

I lingered round them, under that benign sky: watched the moths fluttering among the heath and hare-bells; listened to the soft wind breathing through the grass; and wondered how anyone could ever imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quiet earth.

    One of those other books often referenced as one of the greatest novels ever written. It’s the only thing this author ever wrote – it’s wild, it’s passionate, it’s VIOLENT, it’s … a picture of a Godless world (very rare for the books of the time) … It’s unforgettable.
