    I love this.

There is something very special about those moments when you can see how blue the sky is by looking at a shadow. I love a sunny day after it snows (like you’ve pictured here) or summertime when you are reading a beach book and the sun has dropped low enough for the sunglasses to come off. Very pretty!

a knowing eye for beautiful shots, framed perfect.

and I love the way Bacall’s eyes are admiring Bogart in your current header.

Phil – isn’t it great? If I’m not mistaken, that is their wedding day.

I love the winter tree scenes in “The Last Detail”. They really stand out in the movie for some reason. Could you make a list of your favorite movie scenes that involve strikingly beautiful shots of trees in winter?

Bob – oooh, great question! Let me think on that, and get back to you.

The first thing that comes to mind is the sleigh ride in A Woman’s Face – terrifying and beautiful. I love snow in black-and-white movies and have often wanted to do a compilation of screen grabs of my favorite scenes (the snow falling on the train station in Penny Serenade is another one) – but I just haven’t had the time.

    I’ll think of more!
