Introducing: The SLIFR Movie Tree House

Very exciting new project that I am thrilled to be a part of: the fantastic Dennis Cozzalio of Sergio Leone and the Infield Fly Rule (or: SLIFR) asked me to participate in an ongoing movie-conversation (modeled on the fantastic Slate Movie Club), and we launch our first email back-and-forth this week. Dennis’ announcement about the project is here. The participants in the SLIFR Movie Tree House will be Dennis himself, Jim Emerson of Scanners, Jason Bellamy of The Cooler, and yours truly. I haven’t seen every movie that came out in the past year, there are some big ones I’ve missed, but I really look forward to talking with these intelligent and worthy gentleman over the next week! I’ll provide links when they start to go up.

    This is so exciting. Congratulations.

Bren – I’m really psyched! These guys are all really great, some of my favorite writers on film out there, so it should be fun!

  3. DBW says:

    That’s fantastic. I can’t wait.

  4. Todd Restler says:

Can’t wait. I’m familiar with the “Coversations” format, and think it’s great. I started movie blogging on Scanners, and have read Dennis and Jason extensively, so this should be fun.

I told Dennis that it’s normally rare that I see a movie made after 1960 – but recently I have been trying to “catch up” and see more theatrical releases. Also, with my new gig at Capital New York I kind of have to (not like it’s a chore!!) It’s new for me to talk about current movies – and I’m actually really enjoying it.

Love Dennis/Jim/Jason and REALLY excited to be a part of it! Also excited to be a GIRL allowed into the club. :)

Hopefully I can add something to the conversation other than: “I AM IN LOVE WITH SAM ROCKWELL.”

    Stay tuned!

    Thanks, guys!
