Elvis/Elvis

One of the staples of any Pat McCurdy performance is his “Elvis” mashup, highlighting songs from his two favorite guys and main inspirations (with a little Gilbert & Sullivan thrown in there), Elvis Presley and Elvis Costello. Pat and I go way back, and it’s his birthday today so there’s that nice little dovetail. A Pat McCurdy show features an almost cult-like atmosphere, where everyone knows all the lyrics, and everyone does whatever Pat tells them to do. Squeal like a pig? The audience will comply if Pat asks them to. Pat McCurdy has been doing his thing for years in the Midwest, and “Elvis/Elvis” is always a great sing-along moment for McCurdy’s devoted followers. In reality, the mashup usually goes on much longer than this clip shows.
