Giving Props To Scott Hamilton

When he’s not doing little skits, or prepared dialogue – and when he tells us what’s happening out on the ice, he really is fantastic.

Also … you see the earlier skaters in the night, and you think: “Wow … everyone’s so GOOD …”

And then you come to the last four … the major guys, the favorites … and you realize: ” Those first guys have a loooooong way to go be as good as THESE guys….”

LOL oh, shit, I just went OFF on Scott Hamilton and the other commentators at my place. I was wondering what you thought since I know you’re into the Olympics.

    Whoops.

Hamilton does do a decent job when hes just telling us whats going on, but when he’s trying to be cute it seems like he went to the John Madden school of commentatorship (is that a word?).

“Commentatorship” sounds like some announcer’s gulag where Marv Albert and Bob Costas drive the color guys like slaves. =P You probably want the word “commentating.”

You know …. I have to say, that Plushenko guy’s skating leaves me cold. (He did win the gold, didn’t he? I had to go to bed.) He’s very spindly and skittery; there’s no real flow. He can jump, though — and that’s why he won, I suppose. It was “his” time.
