Me: “So after shows, Elvis would hang out singing gospel and doing karate.”

Long long pause as this image filtered down.

Alex: “Don’t ever say those words to me again.”

Elvis loved gospel music so much, that he and his backup singers also warmed up before shows by singing Gospel songs. I also think of him as the King of Gospel.
Love your blog. It makes my day. Keep on truckin’.

Clifferama – on my recent trip to Graceland, I went to a concert given by The Stamps and they told many of those stories. It was so wonderful to hear it from the horses’ mouth. I think of him as the King of Gospel, too.

    Thanks so much!

I woke up laughing about this in the middle of the night. Not kidding. The story, your telling of it, and Alex’s reaction. I love it so much. The more I think about it, the funnier it gets.

This rivals “Mexico: the flower of Europe.”

    Kate – hahahahaha

Well there is a long history of my friends telling me to shut up. There is that one moment in a phone conversation we had where I kept saying, “He needs to make an honest woman out of her.”

You finally said, “Stop saying that.’

    hahahaha I LOVE MY FRIENDS.

Also, I love my friends because they wake up in the middle of the night laughing about something they read on my site. Good people!!

    Also,

    “We’re Irish, we’re Irish. It’s just… It’s its own thing. We’re IRISH, WE’RE IRISH, WE’RE IRISH!!!!!!”

I know you’re Irish. I just want my life back.

    xoxo

Kate – I was just thinking about that whole “we’re Irish” thing just yesterday.

      // I know you’re Irish. I just want my life back. //

And I’m still laughing about karate and gospel and you and Alex. It’s too much. I can’t take it.

and then of course she had to have me tell her more (“Tell me more Elvis stories immediately”) but in that moment, she just had to put me in my place. I clearly deserved it.
