Thanks, red. Your post brought back a lot of memories. Ever hear Now I’m Here off of Shear heart Attack?
“Down in the dungeon just Hoople and me”
I saw them with Mott the Hoople in New Oleans. With only their self-titled first album out, they were the warmup band. They brought the house down with “Liar” and I guarantee you half of the crowd never heard of them then.
Oh man. That must have been just incredible. I will always regret that I never got to see them live.
Queen and Mott the Hoople would have been a heck of a double bill, right up there with the Who and the James Gang.
Back in my cover-band days, “Tie Your Mother Down” was a personal favorite…because let’s face it, there weren’t all that many Queen songs us ordinary mortals could play and sing.
Not quite there with Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Wishbone Ash, though.
By the way, Ken, a lot of bands of the day used to play Stoned Cold Crazy and a band Sheila may see up there in New York, Zebra, plays a killer version of Now I’m Here.
I thought this was going to be a link to someone named Queen writing about “A Night at the Opera”, one of my favorite Marx Brothers pics.
Oh, well. There’s always Greenbriar…
