The Leap

We’re going away this weekend for a bit of rest/refreshment/relaxation/refurbishment out in the green lush countryside. I have a ton to get done before then, and I’m having a queen-size bed delivered this afternoon, and so there’s some chaos before we can get into the car and make a clean getaway. But it’s certainly something to look forward to. The craziness of the last couple of weeks (hell, months) can’t be overstated. And things are just getting started. The post-mortem of the reading continues, and I’ve been talking about it all week, with those who were there, friends and other audience members. Not only did we do what we wanted to do (exactly), but things are moving forward. Like I said: shit’s got its own momentum now.

Therefore, I can afford to go hole myself up in the countryside for three days. The project will be there when I get back.

I found this photo online this morning and I can’t stop looking at it and falling into it. It reminds me of Mark Helprin’s Winter’s Tale, and seems representative of what life feels like to me right now.

In the meantime, we’re getting the hell out of dodge! To a green lush place beside a deep placid river. Can’t wait.

happy o’malley travels with lots of crossword puzzles, reading, and long swims. your mom said the other night that your family trips look like a bunch of people off in their own corners deeply engrossed in a book. i love that imagery. let’s get together when we’re both back in the city. and i have to ask…where did you find this image of the horse? are you sure it’s a photo? if so, it’s unbelievable. well, it’s an amazing image regardless…but if it’s a photograph it’s truly breathtaking. and i love it as a symbol of where you’re at right now.

Don’t worry…my comments are incubating. Can’t wait. I’m back on July 8…when are you leaving/back? I thought you were leaving the week after the 4th, which is the week I’m back. Love you!
