Must-read of the day:

The John Hughes School of Life.

Great work, Marisa. Loved it. We’ve covered a bit of this here before … the whole Jake Ryan problem … but I really liked how you organized this, how well-thought out your post was. I really agree with you.

Thanks, sweetie! For the record, I think your title for it is MUCH better than mine.

I also updated it with a link to that Jake Ryan piece you did. I LOVED that. It’s funny, but before reading it, I never thought about just how universal the reaction to Jake Ryan is. My best bud got me thinking about John Hughes films again recently. He rails against the horrors of romance thanks to them. One of these days I think he’s going to write a nasty letter to John Hughes demanding that his own Jake Ryan be delivered immediately and denouncing him for raising false hopes in a generation of youth.

Guess where Miss Ringwald is today? Right here in Greenville, SC! (She’s playing the lead in the traveling show of Sweet Charity)

…I wanted to stalk her, but my wife wouldn’t let me.

JFH – a good friend of mine is playing the romantic lead in that touring production.
