Snapshots

— Met with trainer. She kicked my ass. There were times when it was like the chest-waxing scene in 40-year-old virgin. I cursed her out. But she upped the weights – and I made it through. Gaining strength every week. Again with the tomato head. And the wet wet hair.

— We went over my food chart. She totally approves of what I’m doing. Gave me some tips on breakfast.

— I’ve lost 4 pounds. whoo- hoo!!!

— I am about to watch Anchors Aweigh – again, a movie I have seen countless times – I think the first time I saw it was when I was 6 or 7 at my cousins. And, naturally, it is Dean Stockwell’s movie debut. He’s 9 years old. And so adorable that you want to lie down in a warm bath and open your veins to acquire a quick and ecstatic death.

See?

— Another kickboxing class tomorrow.

— I am all about my body right now. I can FEEL it … (my body, I mean) … it aches, it throbs, it’s alive. I am so so grateful.

— Anchors Aweigh!!

    (Hm. I feel suddenly weird.)

Still … YAY, Sheila on 4 pounds lost!

And maybe your husband just needs a little coaxing. Maybe it’s a Rocky/Adrian thing in reverse. So start with your shell-shocked turtles and it will all blossom from there.

  2. red says:

Tempe – wow, what an accomplishment – quite inspiring – congrats!!

  3. red says:

tracey – hahahahaha why do you feel suddenly weird??? email me.

and my husband has no choice. I will have him. It may take 10 weeks, but it’s already a done deal.

Do not mess with a sagittarius woman!!!

  4. red says:

    Also – “shell-shocked turtles” – ha! Brilliant!!

  5. Janine says:

So psyched for you Sheila – I have not yet braved the scale. That weight lifting session is like a goddamn torture chamber! By the way – your bandana man is at the gym everyday it seems. It’s like he’s on a mean mission to get super fit. We are like two ships passing in the night at that place – can’t wait to do a class together! Great first week!!!

  6. red says:

Janine!!! I’ll be there tomorrow night – any possibility you’ll be there?? We have to reconnect!

  7. Janine says:

I knew I could find you here. Can’t make it tomorrow night, but I will be there Saturday morning and/or early Sunday. I too am lovin’ it. I am in love with that bag. Just read your kickboxing update segment (which made me laugh out loud) and the same happens for me at 40 min. into the class. I look to the clock thinking that the class must be over any minute (because I am about to die) but there are 20 minutes left to go! This is just what I needed. See you at the gym! Janine

  8. red says:

hahaha Janine – I love that you have the same response! I love, too, how there’s only that one small clock over the front desk – i would glance at it during the “laps’ round the gym – but other than that, you can’t see it. So I can easier just go into a zone with the bag – and not be counting the minutes.

Also, it appears that I have completely forgotten how to jump rope. I used to jump rope all the time when I was little – now I’m like: Uhm … how do you do this again???

  9. David says:

You two are AMAZING! KEEP IT UP!!!!

    Love and Support!

  10. red says:

    Love you, David!!!

  11. mere says:

OH i HATE it when they throw jump ropes into the mix! Can’t do it! I end up just swinging the jumprope around to the left or right of me and jumping at the same time. it looks ridiculous, but not half as ridiculous as it would look if I end up flat on my face.

  12. Britt says:

Congrats on the kickboxing – I know how hard it is to start something and then actually keep up with it – so great job!

My favorite part of that movie is when Dean is walking down the street with his little bag of clothes and stuff when Gene and Frank come up on him – so adorable!

  13. red says:

Britt – yes, and he’s singing at the top of his lungs in that tiny (yet loud) mouse voice.

    So so cute! Kills me.

And the sound of him SOBBING from inside the house – as kelly and sinatra try to leave.

    hahaha

Come to think of it – he’s gotta be only 7 or 8 – not 9 years old. It came out in 45 but it took so long to do that animation sequence – with Kelly dancing with the cartoon mouse – I think it was filmed in 43 or 44.
