One of my great acting teachers said once that he was a big fan of “sublimation”. That “sublimation” very often led to great art. He said, “You take your pain … and you make it sublime.”
My friend Alex continues to take my breath away in that regard. Over and over and over again … she takes her pain and makes it sublime.
