That’s a great picture, and a great site. (Aren’t you glad I told you about it, after you’d already linked it? Heh.)
Check out “node slash 83” if you get a chance (and haven’t already, double heh)–great color shot of an old Santa Fe Super Chief diesel streamliner at the station in Albuquerque in 1943.
Some of the comments are even better than the photo–the first one reminisces about being arrested in the same yard in 1970, then a couple of posts later someone comes along to explain why the headlamp on the locomotive in the picture was partially shrouded, etc. It’s one of the popular shots of the day at the moment.
Ken – the comments on that site are uniformly awesome, you are so right. People locate places/old stores, whatever, give clarity, say “I was there” – it’s really become an incredible archive.
For some reason it is reminding me of Heath Ledger at the moment. And I didn’t even see ‘Brokeback Mountain’.
I just felt a sudden sense of quiet and peace just looking at that.
