Joe Valdez has another movie review up – and this time it’s about one of my favorites: Robert Altman’s The Player. I did not know that Sidney Lumet was originally attached as a director, and that Robert Altman did the job “for hire”. Amazing. I need to see it again.

after recently watching ‘nashville’ for the first time, i’ve decided to make a concerted effort to see every altman film again, or for the first time if i haven’t seen it.
i remember reacting to this much the way the hollywood execs seemed to…it felt like an inside joke. but i didn’t really know altman at that point so i think the extra level of perception he would bring to that was lost on me at the time.
want to see it again!
Thanks for the acknowledgment on your fantastic site, Sheila. I post new articles every 72 hours, usually around 7pm PST. That was my plug giving you authority to check back every 72 hours for anything relevant you’d like to share with your readers.
Joe – any time! I read everything you write – I might not always comment or link, but your reviews are some of the best (and most informative) out there. Keep it up!!
