It’s so hard to know what to do …

… when the toy that has been tormenting you psychologically from all over the apartment, the toy you have been chewing on, batting about, chasing, ambushing … is suddenly sitting there, ominously, BEHIND YOU.

How DARE that little ball just SIT THERE STARING AT ME like that? What nerve! What arrogance!

I will make it pay for its behavior.

I don’t know how yet, but I will. Its days are numbered. But for now. I remain still. Coiled. Alert. Keeping that dastardly toy in my sight at all times because you just don’t know WHAT will happen next in such a situation.

    The unmitigated gall!

There are, unfortunately, the invisible fiends to worry about as well (does she do that freak out and run off through the house for no apparent reason?).

  2. Kerry says:

Oh, I am madly in love with your cat from afar. Must get one of my own soon.

  3. Kate P says:

Uh oh, it looks as if The Law has put the offending toy on probation.

Cullen–in my home it’s called the “late night runabouts.” It hadn’t occurred to me the cat might have invisible fiends to chase.

The fuzzy ball! It must not evade me! I shall be ever vigi — hey, Dennis Lehane, cool!

  5. red says:

    hahahahaha

Talk about being tormented. My bookshelves are BARELY alphabetized right now and Dennis Lehane has no business coming right AFTER Patrick O’Brian.

Not to mention Joshua Feris’ book which is WAY out of place.

    Oh well.

  6. Alex says:

You sound eerily like Chrisanne right now, Sheila.

  7. red says:

Alex – hahahaha Yes. My crazy OCD about my books.

And I can hear your imitation of Chrisanne’s voice, too – only, of course, it is NOTHING what she sounds like. You imitate her and I’m like, “Uhm … does Chrisanne talk like that?” I LOVE IT.

  8. Michael says:

De-lurking ever so briefly here to make a plea, dear Sheila, that you do not feed dear Hope any dry food. Please read these eye-opening pieces by a California veterinarian:

    AND

All the best to you two!

  9. red says:

I don’t feed her dry food.
