I just came over to tell you the same thing…. sniff…

Ya know, haven’t seen him in public since Anne Bancroft’s death… Hopefully, he’s okay.

JFH – his new Broadway musical Young Frankensteins is opening October 11, I think. I watched some of the load-in earlier this month. He’s been busy busy busy.

I know, everyone … L’Engle. GULP. I have received so many emails and messages – “have you heard?”

I feel like I’ve been preparing for this for a year or so now – she had dropped out completely, haven’t heard a peep out of her in a while … and so I had a feeling she was probably ill.

What a life, what a writer. I can’t even really talk about what she’s given me. It’s like a personal loss to me.

It does make me happy to think that she is back with her husband Hugh, now.

    sniff.

    Rest in peace.

Sheila, that’s great to know… I know how tough it was for my father to lose my mom after almost 35 years (actually one week short of the 35 year aniversary), but fortunately, he recovered with the help of friends and family.

BTW, I’d like to view Madeline L’Engle’s passing as not a tragedy, but a blessing. She had a long life and provided joy to many young people. We should just be glad that she shared her gift with us…

I’m sad for me, not for her.

I’ve been looking forward to a new book a year by Madeleine L’Engle since I was, oh, 10 years old. She’s a part of my life.

Great stuff. A true inspiration to me as an artist – and how to live your life – as a woman, a wife, a mother, an artist.

So yes – she lived a long life, gave much joy. To me and millions of others.

But I’m sad about the loss.

I had a feeling – as her publishing slowed down over the last 5 or 6 years – she wasn’t even publishing her religious books – I had a feeling she was fading out.

Still not ready for the news though.

Here’s to Ring of Endless Light – one of my favorite books of all time. And thank you, Madeleine.
