
I remember the day I took this. I don’t remember why I was wandering around Soho, but I have a feeling I was killing time before meeting someone. I was in a photo-taking mood and since Soho wasn’t my normal stomping grounds I was able to see it with fresh eyes. I took pictures of graffiti, or shop windows, of the way the light hit the tops of buildings – the ornate cornices along the building tops. And this doorbell – painted over so much so that you can’t believe it was actually a working doorbell – struck me. It’s so New York.



That blue! So vivid! Weirdly, I can imagine this being the doorbell at Frankenstein’s castle.
