Photo of the Day: Backdrops

The light was so bright and clear that morning. I’m not normally in Hoboken in the morning and I can’t remember why I was there, but it was early enough that the shadows were really long. Since being in Hoboken at that time was not normal for me, I was alert to the location. It’s familiar – I lived in Hoboken for YEARS – but everything looked new. The unfamiliarity opened my eyes. I was walking from the Light Rail platform into the regular train station and I glanced right – there was a little building under some kind of construction or something – so it was all a mess, nothing to look at really – but look at what I saw. It was magical – like it was a painted backdrop of the Emerald City shining through. OR, like the foreground construction was the “facade”, being rolled off to the side like a painted backdrop, to reveal the reality behind.
