This photo needs a bit of set-up, but it might be my favorite of all of them.
It’s two of my best friends in the world – Mitchell and Jackie.
Mitchell and Jackie came as Jackie’s grandparents, Chester and Millie, who had been married for 60 years or something like that. Both of them had very distinctive ways of walking, talking, being. Jackie adored them. When one of them passed away, the other one followed a couple of months later. It was that kind of relationship.
So this was Jackie and Mitchell’s tribute to Chester and Millie.
There is so much about this photo that I find hilarious. I look at it – and I can’t even really LAUGH.
It’s like – these are NOT my friends. They are “Chester and Millie”. The expression in Jackie’s eyes … in Mitchell’s … they are CHANNELING those 2 people.
I am literally chortling here. I wish there was video of this, because I can only imagine that the VOICES made it even better!
Like …
Chester looks so NERVOUS, and Millie is calming him down. Oh God. I just love it.
And yet you know that as soon as Chester sits down, Millie is going to have some comments about the jello mold or the deviled eggs.
I can’t stop laughing. It’s the look in the EYES. And look at Jackie’s mouth … like: what is she saying??
Ann Marie, did your sister make up her mind about a costume yet?
No disrespect to Mitchell and Jackie, and certainly none to Chester and Millie but my caption would be:
Millie: Oh Gaaawd, do you see what she’s wearing?
Chester: Oah! That’s terrible!
What he’s really thinking:(Gawd, look at doz cumquats)
Am I correct when I quote:
“Jackie, stuuuurrdy as a telephone pole. STRooong as an oak! Jackie!!!”
xo,Kate
I always thought it was an exchange like this:
Chester: Where the hell are we? Who are all these people?
Millie: (soothingly) I know, I know … it’s allllll going to be alll right …
Dave:
“gawd, look at doz cumquats” heh heh heh
I don’t even know any of the people involved, but I just love that photo. They so capture a personality….actor-types must have the BEST Hallowe’en parties.
ricki:
Any excuse to pretend we’re other people, and we go WILD!
What’s so funny to me about this photo – and you wouldn’t know this, because you don’t know her – is my friend Jackie is one of the most naturally glamorous-looking women I’ve ever known. She’s a babe.
LOOK AT HER THERE. heh heh heh heh
