being part of a generation where you can say to a dear friend, “Well, actually, this guy seems a bit more like MacGyver” and you will be immediately understood. The friend nods quickly. Yup. MacGyver. Got the whole picture. Thanks.

That’s so funny. I had a friend who described this cheesy guy I dated a few years ago who thought he was Mr. Cool as “a total Michael Knight”. I broke up with him in under a week.
Yup. Michael Knight. That is all one needs to say.
One of my favorite parts about MacGyver (and there are many) is the theme song. It’s so energizing! ba ba ba BAH ba ba BAH…. It’s awesome.
Siobhan – you are indeed right. MacGyver pretty much rocks. On multiple levels.
Sorry I missed meeting you all last night … I’m sure you had a blast!
I didn’t go cuz they got in so late!! So tonight?
Sadly … I cannot. This week has been way too busy, with something going on every single night … I’m a bit manic. Pissed I can’t see you guys.
see emily? someone else likes sheep too!
i need to give you your marx!
Yes, but undoubtely with less fervorous lust than you, Mr. B.
siobhan – oh my god! Another marx??
so. excited.
i would strongly behhhhht that to bahhh the case, emily.
Ah, MacGyver. Watched that bloody show far too much as a lad.
Good metric for conversation, though. If you’re speaking with someone who says “MacWho?” or similar, you can safely conclude that they’re too young to have a brain.
er, or too old/besotted to still have one. i never watched it.
wait til you see the cover i made for you!
Or on a different continent, Mr Bingley.
In my academic department, we have this wonder-secretary who can do ANYTHING. (She’s the glue that holds the department together).
The other day, in a faculty meeting, one of the guys was talking about something she had recently repaired for us and commented that she was “the department’s MacGyver.”
We all grinned. It’s funny, isn’t it, how a group of people from tremendously diverse backgrounds, who grew up in all different parts of the country, can have that common link. (A lot of people run down television as having destroyed “culture” but I think one can argue that it has a common culture all it’s own. I was working with a guy in grad school – we had just met a few days before – and we were out doing some fieldwork that involved taking samples of a very stony soil. One sample in particular was fullof rocks, and as he dropped it in the bag, he said in his best Charlie Brown voice “I got a rock” (referring to the Hallowe’en Peanuts speical). Immediately I had a sense of connection with him and we actually wound up being pretty good friends).
Yet the question remains: who would win in a fight? MacGyver or the A-Team? ;-)
don’t you bet against mr. t, fool!
I love it when a plan comes together. ;-)
