Along the Hudson River

It’s really fall now. After a couple of weeks of unseasonably warm weather, yesterday was downright cold, with giant ranks of clouds passing over the blue, piling up in the distance. It was spectacular down on the Hudson. I’ve lived here for many years. I never get sick of the view.

Almost made me homesick. Moved to Keene, NH from West New York, NJ recently. Am happy to be here, but do miss the views. And lots of other things. Thanks for the pix, Sheila.

Melissa – Hey, we were almost neighbors! I love West New York – that view along Boulevard East is still breaktaking and I’ve lived around there for years. Not to mention the tribute-statue to my dead boyfriend Alexander Hamilton.

Hope you find some views you love in Keene as well!

Is that Chelsea Piers in the first picture?

  4. sheila says:

Yes! The big driving range you mean?

  5. Melissa Sutherland says:

Sheila, I know we were neighbors! I used to look at your street pictures and try to figure out where you were by driving around. Have been reading you for a long time and really admire the “indepthness” of what you do. And yes, there are views up here, too. Not the Hudson, or looking across it to Manhattan Plaza where I lived for almost 20 years. I miss it a lot, but truth be told, am happier now. Quieter, two-college town, lots of trees, a deer lopped across my driveway on Friday. And in the summer, lots and lots of ponds (what I’d call lakes) to swim in. Thanks for the response. I’ll write again.

This may be a dumb question, but I don’t know NY at all.

Is the photo 3rd from the bottom the view that used to include the Twin Towers?

  7. sheila says:

Tracey – Yes, only it is a tiny bit farther south. There’s not much further to go on Manhattan after Ground Zero, but that shows the very bottom tip of the island. You can’t see the hole in the sky where the towers used to be in this picture.

  8. sheila says:

But in the fourth picture down you can see where the Towers used to be. It’s a huge hole in the skyline – and you actually can see an enormous crane in the space – that’s a crane at Ground Zero.

  9. tracey says:

Oh, I forgot to check your answer here. Yes, that’s the one I meant. Third from the bottom, 4th from the top. The one with the crane. Wow.
