Water Water Everywhere

I went to the beach yesterday after this stressful crazy week. The surf was high. It was beautiful. I stood out on the jetty and watched the waves crash, the surf sometimes spraying me. I finally had to exit, because the water was rushing over the jetty. A brave soul went for a swim. There were people fishing, throwing a football around, walking their dogs. I spent a couple hours there, reading, listening to the crash of waves, and recuperating.

    Oh, I LOVE the footprints.

Beth – I know, right? That was from the crazy dude who had gone swimming – the only barefoot prints on the whole beach!

Great shots. I believe I can hear the tide.
Always wanted to live alone in a lighthouse, but they’re hard to find in the middle of Indiana for some reason.
    I vant to be alone.

    Sheila,

All lovely pictures, but the second after the crazy dude swimmer – perfect. The delicately tinged glints against the deep blue water – thought I was looking at a watercolor painting.

Do you use autofocus and snap or do you play with f-stops?

    George – Thanks!

I pretty much just point and shoot. I try to futz with the light-levels sometimes (with dubious results) – but I have the Light Levels For Dummies camera, with little pictures of a bright sun, or a mountain range – so I can choose what level to use, if appropriate.

I wish I had a better camera, but this one does all right for me. I happened to be there at the beach at “magic hour” – which is now 4:30 to 5:30 – so the light was naturally amazing, with stark shadows and the foam on the waves catching the sunset light. I have a really hard time taking good pictures in the middle of the day. I don’t know how to manage the light.
