I may have to quit my job and go watch this movie again immediately.
hahahahaha
Bringing up baby is a cool flick. Her chemistry and timing is so cool. I went into a Hepburn phase after i saw her interview with Dick Cavett on you tube and on DVD. Has anybody seen that? its around 1973 or so – just a few years after Tracy’s death. She starts by re-arranging the furniture on his set and it gets even better from there. I think he had closed the theatre to audience so it was just Cavett and Her. Its pretty funny – between Hepburn being so lively and speaking off cuff and Cavett being so awe-struck. Cool stuff.
I love Katherine Hepburn. After reading the book – got into a phase – Has anyone read A Scott Berg’s biography of her? i highly recommend it.
By the way – Nice write-up on bringing up baby- enjoyed it You are very spot on – It was so insightful of you to point out that Carey Grant was an acrobat. Lots of people don’t get those subtle characteristics and how they mold the actor. And you certainly nailed it – He was an amazing guy. Suave and sophistication all the way. Plus, he gets extra cool points for dropping acid with Dyan Cannon in the 1960s in my little book. Lol Wasn’t Burt Lancaster also an acrobat? Love those old actors for sure. But i don’t think Lancaster did acid!!
Cary Grant’s kid per the article will be at the film – she’s a cool girl and has been trying to keep her dad’s legacy alive – they have the sweetest film of her dancing with her father in the mid 1970s that showed what a cool and sweet man he was. we all wish we had a dad like that. artists never lose their ability to be child-like. When they mention Cary Grant and Clooney in the same sentence – i just mutter “only one Cary Grant”
Chris – You’re a new reader, I can tell. :)
My Cary Grant obsession knows no bounds. If I’ve written 600 posts about him, that would not surprise me. Search around my archive – there was a good year and a half where I wrote about nothing OTHER than Cary Grant. I’ve been doing this for years. He is my favorite actor.
I actually just watched the Hepburn/Cavett interview again at a recent party. Yeah, it’s great stuff. Looking forward to reading Cavett’s new memoir.
I am looking forward to reading Jennifer Grant’s book, too!
Here are two posts I wrote for House Next Door about Grant and Hepburn, if you’re interested:

So nice to meet another BRINGING UP BABY fan. I know the movie by heart, and yet it still works. Now THAT is movie magic!!
thanks for the links. Good stuff – I am reading Marc Elliot’s Bio of Cary Grant. And its fascinating – what a life!!
did he tape any of the Q and A sessions from the 1980’s ? That would be fascinating to see.
I did see Elvis and Cary Grant hanging out in one of Elvis’s concert movies. It s quite funny to see those two together –
Interesting that Bogdanovich offered him ‘What’s Up Doc’ role. Don’t know how true that is. I do think Ryan and Barbara were perfect so i can’t see
that.
Did anybody see Jennifer Grant’s intro at film forum?
