This is my favorite picture I took this year. Total accident.

I’ll restrain myself to commenting on just one of these (even though I could comment on nearly all of them), so here it is: I really want that deck of playing cards!

Best wishes for a fine 2012.

  2. sheila says:

    Oh please, comment away!

And happy 2012 to you too!

I love these, Sheila, for all sorts of different reasons…but the ones of Lucy just get me. Especially these three – your mom and Lucy drawing with chalk, Lucy and the basket of flowers on the steps, and Lucy and Siobhan dancing in a circle.

  4. Paul H. says:

It must have been quite a year if Elvis only manages two entries in this compilation.

Happy New Year, Sheila, hope 2012 is even better for you.

Well, you know, it’s been a busy and full year (and, as always, the majority of it barely gets mentioned on my blog). My sister got married. My niece and nephew got baptized. I’ve had three, maybe four jobs. Can’t keep track! I went to Los Angeles. I went to Chicago. Two readings of my script. I covered two film festivals. I was interviewed for a documentary. I went to the beach a LOT this year. Most of my pictures are beach pictures. 100s and 100s of beach pictures. And sky pictures. And I took barely any pictures of my exciting trip to Chicago. I kept thinking there should be more pictures of it … but there’s only 5 or 6 pics of that trip!

    Happy 2012 everyone!

Jayne – I love that one of Lucy on the steps. IT KILLS ME.

and I have so many pics of her and Siobhan dancing – she was having sooooooooo much fun. She kept looking at other passersby to see if they were duly impressed with her dancing. Ha!

  7. Kate says:

Great storytelling Sheila! Hey, you were right in my hood! Happy 2012 to you and yours!

  8. sheila says:

Kate – the L stop?? Or Wrigley?

  9. Kate says:

Bryn Mawr Baby!~ That’s my Starbucks. And the green on that building, I matched a paint chip to and used it in my dining room!

  10. Kent says:

Thank you Sheila for all you’ve done to make 2011 a year to remember!!! These are beautiful, natch!

  11. phil says:

It’s that stretching cat. What a moment you captured.
Great enough for a Topp’s Kitty Card collection(with stiff bubblegum!)
Damn, what an eye you have for this World.

Have a Happy and Prosperous 2012, sheila.

I think that first photograph is so beautiful because it captures another human being’s essential humanity. There’s a light emanating from her, and her face has a certain angelic quality. Happy New Year Sheila.

  13. Too many great pics in here to name, so I’ll just say that I probably lingered longest over the simple beauty of Goodnight Moon in the perfectly green grass, and the one a few before it of the little girl on the porch steps.

Happy New Year! Here’s to a great 2012!

  14. Dan says:

Catching up – loved the pictures – especially the b & w shot of the street light under the darkening sky.

  15. sheila says:

Dan – thank you! Always nice to see you! That actually was a color photograph, which tells you how crazy that sky really was.

  16. Dan says:

I thought I detected a hint of green, but couldn’t be sure. Great shot of a crazy sky.

I hope to be here a little more often. New Year’s resolutions of sorts:
    1. Comment more on blogs I enjoy, rather than taking silently.
    2. Try to blog more myself.
