…laughed out loud at something you read on the Internet?
I believe it might have been this morning – when I read this.
Oh no wait – I laughed out loud more recently than that – when I read this on McSweeneys. I guffawed at my desk.
…said I love you to someone?
Yesterday. Many many times.
…sang along with a song?
Probably a couple days ago … Mitchell and I sang along to the Dream Girls soundtrack before we got down to drunk-dialing my ex-boyfriends
…paid someone a compliment?
Yesterday.
…received a compliment?
Yesterday.
…saw a movie that was really moving?
Mitchell and I watched Junebug the other night. Amy Adams is a wonder. And Scott Wilson has a moment that … well. It’s simple, it’s small, it’s just a gesture – but Mitchell and I looked at each other after the scene ended, and we both had tears in our eyes.
…read a poem?
Yesterday.
…learned a new skill?
This one’s hard. Actually – Mitchell informed me that you can actually Microwave corn on the cob. I was unaware of this. This isn’t really a SKILL, unless turning the dial on the Microwave is a skill.
…saw a band play live?
I feel like I saw a band play recently … Oh wait!! I remember: Marah. Went to see them in LA. They were awwwwesome.
…got in touch with someone you havent seen since high school?
A year ago. Within a 2 week period Keith and Andy both contacted me – Complete coincidence that they would reach out and find me at the same time. Unbelievable. Then I saw them last summer at our reunion – and we’re back in touch now. God. So cool.
…danced?
I dance all the time.
…felt the sun on your face, and noticed it?
Yesterday morning, an hour before a random blizzard descended over our fair city and whited-out the sky.
(got this from Mental Multivitamin … an awesome blog, by the way.)
I read it a couple of hours ago, and I’m STILL laughing about this:
Now all this being said, if you should come in contact with Bon Jovi, do not look into his face. He will only rock it. And call for backup immediately. Bear in mind, the man has been everywhere, he stands tall, and he rides a steel horse.
Good luck to you all. At this point, I have to be honest, we’re living on a prayer.
“He will only rock it” Bwahahahahahaaha!
hahahahaha
the whole “steel horse” imagery is killing me!!
Sheila, this is totally off topic, but I saw this and I knew you would want to see it to (hopefully the link will work):
Marlon Brando’s lost screen test for Rebel Without a Cause
Holy fuckin’ shit.
I … I don’t even know what to say. That is so amazing. I don’t recognize any of that text, though!! And the lead character’s name was JIm in the final movie – not Harold. Interesting!!
But man – LOOK at him. He’s so damn beautiful. I loved that first section with the interview of him … he can barely remember his own resume. She had to prompt him – meanwhile, these are now plays which are famous because he was in them!!
His profile.
God – it’s sometimes easy to take him for granted, because he is now so famous, and so imitated … but to look at him freshly, when he was raw, and not famous … Man. He’s truly riveting on camera.
Thank you!!!
Thank you for the kind words and link.
You’re welcome! I knew you would enjoy it.
And yes, I totally agree, it’s amazing to see him at such an early stage, before he became “Marlon Brando, the icon.” So so cool.
Seriously, that freaking song is stuck. In. My. Head. I often read your posts, I always leave with vivid imagery and new ideas in my head, and I am impressed and thankful there are still people like you in the world….and now you stick that song in my heads. Not cool. Well, okay, pretty cool. Sadly, I often think of this song when I ride my motorcycle. Sigh.
