My good friend Luisa has made periodic appearances on my site. I have known her since college. She was responsible for the creepy “rocks in the tub” phenomenon out on Block Island. She also basically demanded to appear on my site more. Luisa is many things, but she is not shy.
One of the fun by-products of my Elvis obsession and how public I have made it, is that people bombard me with links, photos, and sometimes objects in order to feed my obsession. Clearly, Elvis is everywhere. It’s not like I OWN him. However, I’ve been so public with this thing that multiple people have told me that they can’t hear “Jailhouse Rock” come on the radio without thinking of me. My work here is done.
So. Back to Luisa.
She sent me the following picture on Facebook, basically as a taunt. She wants to give it to me. An Elvis switchblade.
I literally will not be able to rest until that sweet little weapon is in my hands.
It’s good to know it takes Elvis, threats and weaponry to get mentioned. I guess I’ll spend my day trolling for some ‘King’ brass knuckles on eBay?

That’s what I was talking about when I told you on FB that D was watching an Elvis special! BEFORE ALL THIS, it never would’ve registered that he was watching Elvis. He watches Elvis shit all the damn time. He has the Elvis station on XM as his #1 preset. But NOW. . .I hear Elvis and I think “Hm. Wonder if Sheila knows Elvis is on GAC.”

No, you certainly don’t OWN Elvis, however; you can certainly stand proud behind your intransigent recognition, dissection, and unique understanding of his legacy and incredible canon of work. You have certainly given his legacy a breath of fresh air which and brought many of his minute and trivial accomplishments to life, which if not ever examined, has been long forgotten.

I was kidding about “owning” Presley. It’s just that my friends literally send me all this stuff now, like he’s my boyfriend. Like I somehow own him, or he’s a little known discovery of my own. It’s hysterical.
