    Beautiful, thanks!
I can totally picture myself cruising Montreal in a 1955 Pink Cadillac. Totally.

      Isn’t that the best-looking car?

He bought it for his mother, who didn’t even drive.

The car was so notorious and famous he changed the lyrics in one of his big early hits, “Baby Let’s Play House.”

      The actual lyrics go:

Well, you may go to college
      You may go to school
You may have religion but don’t you be nobody’s fool

Elvis changed it to the “meta”

Well, you may go to college
      You may go to school
You may have a pink Cadillac but don’t you be nobody’s fool

… which makes no sense, really, but was a kind of wink-wink at his fans and critics.

Per Wikipedia, Elvis got the very first Blackhawk, beating out Sinatra. That is a nice looking car.

  3. Kent says:

Sheila, I recently saw a white Stutz Coupe cruising on the Hollywood Freeway. My first instinct was to crane my neck to see who was driving. In the old days, it might actually be Dino. You could tell because his custom license plate read “Drunky”. Or it might be Sammy Davis Jr’s wife, Altovise. “Alto”. Poor woman had stress, used to catch her on Santa Monica Blvd. binge eating candy bars. Or Sammy himself, “Sammy”. Alas, none of the above. How about Lisa Marie, or ‘Cilla, raiding the family garage? Nep. Then inspiration hit: SHEILA JOYRIDING!!! And YES! I SAW IT! Don’t deny… the plate said Sheila + E! Happy Birthday E and dear S O’M!

    • sheila says:

Dino’s license plate was “Drunky”??? Ha!!!

Oh, to joyride in that Stutz Blackhawk …

I’m so glad it’s safe in that museum, so that I can go visit it anytime I go to Memphis.
