Of course my favorite moment of hers is in the original Muppet Movie when they’re all frantically crowding into an elevator, jabbering with a sense of urgency – there is a sudden pause and she says into the pause, “So we were all on the beach naked …”
Uhm … Janice? I’m sure the story is fascinating but that is TOTALLY not what everybody else is talking about.
“Ya can’t live with ’em
Ya can’t live without ’em
There’s somethin’ irresistibullll-ish about ’em
We grin and bear it cause the nights are long
I hope that something better comes along …”
On the show I just finished, the stage manager had a great story about her and a group of friends singing the song and reenacting the whole search for Kermit routine from “The Muppets Take Manhattan” in FAO Schwartz during a trip to NYC.
This led to a discussion of our love for all things muppet and everyone in the dressing room singing “The Rainbow Conection” from start to finish. Muppet bonding. The best kind.
Oh and let us not forget the sanctimonious Sam the Eagle being concerned that the movie being made will not have ‘socially redeeming values’. hahahahaha
And I love that there are all these famous people, like Orson Welles and Edgar Bergen and Madeline Kahn and Steve Martin doing these little cameos and interacting with the Muppets.
“Gonzo, what are you doing?”
“About seven knots!”
And I remember the psychedelic painting of the Studebaker…
I believe that should be,
“fershur, rilly”
/pedantry
I was torn between that and “rully”.
I can hear her voice now!!

I LOVE HER.
That soundtrack was one of the first things I owned…on 8-track, no less.
Myth! Myth! Yeth?
As a percussionist in high school, Animal was my favorite. Our drum line all had t-shirts with Animal on the front with the caption “BEAT DRUM!”
“Aurora Borealis
Shinin’ down on Dallas
Can you picture that?”
“Hey, I’ve never seen the sun come up in the west?!? Movin’ right along bud-a-bum bud-a-bum…
“Miss? Miss?”
“Ya can’t live with ’em

Waldorf: “I’ve seen detergents leave a better film than this.” hahahaha!
“Should it be snowing?”
“Stay away from women, that’s my motto.”
“But I can’t.”
“Neither can I, that’s my trouble.”

“Would you like to smell the bottlecap?” BWAHAHAHAHA!
And he spits out the wine when he tastes it.

“Oh, my uncle left it to me.”
“Is he dead?”

“Have you tried Hare Krishna?”
Oh and let us not forget the sanctimonious Sam the Eagle being concerned that the movie being made will not have ‘socially redeeming values’. hahahahaha
“I hear this movie’s dynamite.”

I love this banter!
It’s true, the Muppets exposed me to so many great actors and musicians when I was a kid.
OK everybody – stay in focus.
I just watched this last weekend!
“Patriotism swells in the heart of the American Bear.”
“They don’t look like Presbyterians to me!”
“Uh-oh, Zoot skipped a groove again!”
