My dear Red, the photo third from the top is speaking to my innermost souly soul soul. I think I looked at your photo album once a long time ago and there was a photo of a watery sluice on a wet gray street, another one of your melancholy masterpieces. Beethoven had a knack for those sorts of things, too. Thank you for creating. I wonder if you can fathom how much I appreciate you, dear friend. Gulp. Love you. xxx stevie
I appreciate you too, Stevie!!
That really is a souly-soul–soul picture – it’s one of the roads through Boston Common and, weirdly, when I glanced behind me, there was no one walking on the road. Granted, it was a cold day – but it seemed amazing that this busy throughway would be totally empty.
xoxo
Nice snaps.
If you haven’t ever before, you should stop by the Boston Athenaeum while you’re in the neighborhood. The ground floor is open to the public IIRC, and there are (infrequent) tours of the remainder of the building.
I’ve been there before but it was years ago!
Unfortunately, I’m already gone. Allison and I drove up to see Mike Birbiglia at the Wilbur Theatre on Saturday night – it was an insane snowstorm but the house was packed – was an awesome show!!
Wilbur Theatre is a lovely venue. And there’s always next time for the Athenaeum. For a while we had a membership (saw a nifty Gorey exhibit there) but let it lapse – couldn’t get there often enough to justify the expense. Of course I dream of working there some day.
My oldest is midway through Freshman year at Northeastern… Loves the shit out of Boston.
Northeastern is great – one of my great childhood friends went there, and loved it too!! Boston is awesome.
