Kerry O’Malley as Mia Vogel in “Those Who Kill”, A&E series which premiered last night.
The show is scary, intense, and super stylish. Dark, gloomy, cinematic. It was filmed on location in Pittsburgh and it has such a powerful atmosphere, evoking Pittsburgh’s coldness, grit, and stark beauty. It looks great! It’s awesome to see James D’Arcy in such a large role (I wrote this whole piece about one tiny moment he had in Master and Commander), and Kerry is excellent in her role as the pathologist, who works in the gloomiest lab ever in existence (like I said: great use of locations to create mood). I said to Kerry that I totally believed that she was that person who had that job. The technical language came trippingly off her tongue, it sounded like words she was well-used to saying. Her scene is one of the opening scenes, and it helps establish mood and character, for the show and for the Chloe Sevigny character. The whole show looks promising, especially in regards to Sevigny’s Arc as a character (lots of interesting backstory tidbits thrown in our path), not to mention the whole “serial killer psychology” aspect – something I find fascinating.
Check out Those Who Kill! Go, Kerry!
