Review: Palo Alto (2014); directed by Gia Coppola

large_palo_alto

A feature film debut from the next generation of Coppola’s: Gia Coppola, grand-daughter to Francis Ford, niece to Sofia. Palo Alto is an adaptation of James Franco’s short stories of the same name.

It’s a very good debut. Confident, dreamy, moody, good acting.

My review of Palo Alto is now up at Roger Ebert.

  1. Having coached youth baseball for 25 years in Palo Alto (including a few years at Palo Alto High School), looking forward to hoping to maybe get a chance to see this.

Wow! If I’m not mistaken, it was actually filmed in Woodland Hills – where I actually lived, very briefly … so it’ll be interesting to hear if it “feels” like Palo Alto to someone who lived there.
