I love movie posters.
Maybe some of you out there do, too.
I don’t put up the posters below because I like the movies in question (although a lot of times I DO) … I think the posters are works of art in and of themselves.
Enjoy.

Love these. The art of the movie poster is so specific and has such oomph. I recently saw the poster from La Dolce Vita and couldn’t get over the way it completely captured the time, the place, the mood, the movie, and Anita Ekberg’s startling look. Fantastico! xxx S
This poster was on my dining room wall for years. It was giant on really good canvasy-type paper. Then a boyfriend let a soda explode everywhere and didn’t tell me about it.
I noticed stains on the poster one day and by that time it was ruined.
I had to throw out the poster AND the boyfriend.
Anyway….wanted to share. Enjoy: http://www.posteritati.com/jpg/G3/glasskey_lfr.JPG
Stunning, De!!
I never knew what Close Encounters of the Third Kind meant until I read that poster you posted.
There should be a word or phrase for something like this that is common knowledge for almost everyone but not for you. (The French or Germans probably do.)
I love movie posters as an art of themselves. The subset of Japanese movie posters, especially for American films has some real gems. To say nothing of the otherwordly strangness of vintage Polish film posters.
JessicaR – vintage Polish film posters are just insane. I am so glad I discovered them. Amazing stuff.
Geek that I am, Frank Frazetta is one of my favorite artists. I always found it interesting how different his movie poster work was from his fantasy artwork (generally speaking).
I love this one.
