Carrie – the place is just so iconic to me. Even a pawn shop becomes steeped in romance when there’s a palm tree beside it and the Hollywood sign in the distance.
I’ve said it before – but coming as I do from New York – where all vestiges of the old city are being wiped out on almost a daily basis – I LOVE the signage in LA – the old-school signage – on signs above buildings – or whatever … I am sure eventually it will all go away but it feels like there’s way more of it in LA than in New York – so it’s really comforting to see.
Well the way you have photographed it, these stills would not be out of place as a continuity of images that had its roots in films like Chinatown which capture a sort of ‘golden age’ of Los Angeles/Hollywood (in that case, the 70s looking back on an earlier ‘golden age’) – they really are wonderfully evocative photos and so fitting a view for a cinematic diva such as yourself to capture, if that makes sense. Well done, love them. Seriously, they are wonderful.
Wow, that first pic is beautiful!!!
Loved your whole LA montage – your photographic eye continues to be excellent! :)
Awesome, Sheila.
Can’t wait to hear/see more!
Ceci – I know, I couldn’t believe that that first photo actually came out since I was facing the sun. But that’s pretty much exactly what I saw.
I love, too, how the hills in the background show up in layers – you know – like dark grey, layer of lighter grey … It was beautiful.
I love how cinematically Hollywood all your Los Angeles shots are – perfect and fitting.
