About Last Night.

I think Pedro Martinez’s behavior was disgraceful. I cannot believe he was not tossed out of the game. And God, I’m a Boston fan! We need him! But that doesn’t change the fact that I think he behaved appallingly.

Zimmer was obviously charging Martinez – but Zimmer is an old man. There is no excuse for Martinez’s behavior. It was an absolute disgrace. Push him away from you, bat him back, but to take his head in your hands, and throw him down onto the grass?

Not to mention the Yankee thugs beating up a Fenway Park worker. The man has CLEAT MARKS IN HIS BACK. Fucking neanderthals.

Jesus. The whole thing was a debacle.

And yet – this evening I will watch again. Riviera Cafe in the West Village. A watering-hole for Red Sox fans in the surrounding area.

But last night … Jesus. The whole game had a bad bad vibe.

Zimmer could have broken his neck. You do not throw old men down on the ground. You do not throw old men down on the ground. You do not throw old men on the ground.

Yet all the BoSox fans are defending him. Pedro is a known goon. He all but said he was going to throw at someone’s head. And did you see the look on his face as he pushed Zimmer down. He wanted to hurt him. Punkass.

That pitch, also, was nowhere near Manny. It was just high.

Everyone just seemed to – be flipping out. Except for Fatso Clemens.

I felt dirty after watching that game. (Having to see shots of J Lo and Ben Affleck didn’t help matterse.)

Pedro had already revealed himself to be a thug by hitting Garcia. But that’s just Pedro, he’s always had a short temper. Besides letting himself get clocked by Zimmer, I don’t see what else he could have done besides pushing him to the ground. Zimmer was the one who sought Martinez out.

As for the bullpen incident, if this guy had cleat marks in his back, then Nelson and Garcia should be facing assault charges. But he should also be fired by the Red Sox for his unprofessional conduct in provoking the incident by waving his rally flag and pumping his fists in the Yankee bullpen.

Ok people, do I have to be the only person who will defend my Red Sox and the folks of Red Sox nation?

Pedro had every right to drill Garcia. I don’t think he was trying to drill him in the head. I do think he was going for the upper side and or shoulder. Pedro was getting slammed all over the park and his counterpart – Clemens, aka the Sausage King – was pitching a very good game for the Skankees. Please do not bash Pedro for trying to hit Garcia. This is part of baseball. This has been done way before Clemens and Pedro were even born. So don’t go giving me shit about how Pedro is a disgrace or what have you. If that’s your stance, then Clemens is a disgrace for actually hitting Mike Piazza in the head – not once, but TWICE!

As for the Zimmer situation, while I agree that you shouldn’t beat on old men, you need to watch the home footage of that episode. Someone at the park took a home movie of the incident. It showed Zimmer, running out of the dug out, running around the pile in front of him, seeking Pedro out and charging him. He stopped for a second, rared up, then charged. All Pedro was doing was stepping aside and pushing him out of his way. Why would any sit there any let anyone attack them? I don’t care how old someone is. They come after me, they are going to get something in return. Fuck ’em.

Lets fast forward to the bullpen incident. I hope that assholw Nelson and the other goons in the pen who jumped the Red Sox employee get charged and face jail time or some sort of humiliating punishment. And how about Garcia jumping into the bullpen and getting in on the action? Pedro should have drilled him when he had the chance. Maybe the Red Sox employee shouldn’t have been cheering all that loud while he was in the Skankees bullpen. However, Nelson and the other goons should have asked a police office or some other Red Sox official to have that employee removed. But they didn’t do that. What did they do? They jumped on him and kicked him with cleats. Fucking pussies.

Unfortunate as these events are, it is Red Sox/Skankees baseball at it’s best. It adds to the drama and to the teams history.

    Reverse the Curse.

I watched it happen. I thought it was one of the funniest things that has ever happened. Zimmer got what he deserved.

Zimmer initiated the physical contact. He charged Pedro, and while charging he was swinging with his left hand. Pedro, in his defense, grabbed Zimmer by his head and used Zimmer’s own forward momentum against him. He took one step to the side, and as Zimmer was going by, let go of his head. Zimmer was falling already, and it just looked like Pedro was slamming him down. I would say it was more like “guiding him” by. Pedro may have shoved Zimmer a little, but I personally think it was way more Zimmer’s fault.

I found it quite amusing, actually, after it was obvious that Zimmer was not seriously hurt.

    SageOne,

Clemens is a disgrace for trying to murder (OK, I’m exaggerating a bit) Piazza. My only real problem with beaning is the way these pitchers hide behind the Designated Hitter. Pedro wasn’t nearly as much of a headhunter when he was with Montreal.
