I always thought the word “clear” was so appropriate in the Happy Fun Club sense. Yup. Clear is right. That will be able to sufficiently describe your bank account, ability to think for yourself, the number of trustworthy friends and family you have left…welcome to “clear.” Don’t forget to grab a can of anti-Xenu repellant on your way out to save the world from shrinks and baby rapists.
Are you allowed to tell what the Navy outfit people’s jobs are? I am out of the loop on this subject…
(I am home sick today, which is why I am checking out your blog at this time of day…)
About the navy people. They’re basically an intelligence unit whose members sign billion year (!) contracts of service and gather sticky info on other members that’s used to blackmail people who try to leave the “church.” Among other things.
Sheila- Nah, I just have a stupid upper respiratory kinda thing going on. Feel like crud, and needed a day to lay around in my pj’s and blow my nose.
Emily- you’ve GOT to be kidding! What kind of scary freaks!! That is so mean!!
Yup, I so get that.Feeling pissed off at them. I can’t stand it when human beings take advantage of less capable people. I feel bad for all the people who REALLY believe the shit that they are being told. Who REALLY are brainwashed. Because you just KNOW that there are some people who are NOT brainWASHED, but the ones who are just getting off on the power. Freaks.
They were everywhen in San Fran when I visited Ken. I felt like flypaper for freaks there because every scillyologist, natural health guru (I has a scientific conference badge on a lot of the time) stoner and just plain schizo street perosn wanted to explain their theory of Life, the Universe and Everything to me.
Actaully, I’m here with only my husband for work. We saw Spring Awakening on Monday, and are seeing Curtains tonight. We may go see something on Thursday also – of course I’m seeing a show while I’m here!
I really enjoyed Spring Awakenings. The supporting male lead is amazing, and the songs are fun. The storyline is a bit weak, and a bunch of the characters are underdeveloped. (but, I still cared about the leads).
The juxtaposition of 1890’s Germany and modern music and lyrics (explicit lyrics also) was jarring, and it manages to come down on both sides of a moral lesson – both that blatantly challenging authority is a recipie for tragedy, and that blindly following the status quo is a recipe for tragedy. Tricky that.
And, I was _Really_ tempted by 110 degress in the shade, because I LOVE Audra’s voice…. but The Rainmaker is one of my least favorite plays, so the musical version really doesn’t catch my attention.

Oh and I saw a couple folks outside in Navy outfits. I was too nervous to blatantly take their picture though.
The people in the navy outfits always make me laugh at first. Then I remember what their job is and I get kind of pissed off.
Totally.
For the most part – their building in Times Square is usually really silent and empty-seeming- but today there was a lot of activity.
What’s above your head? Train tracks?
And that poster of Random Black Guy (P Diddy? Kanye West?) looks like he’s pointing at the Scientology building.

Why does it look like they conducted a hostile takeover of a courthouse?

Beth – hope you’re not TOO sick!!
Yes – Emily’s link is safe to click on. You can hear all about the Navy people there.

You see what I mean about being pissed off, Beth?

Lisa – it’s a scaffolding in front of the building opposite – which actually I think is a Broadway theatre.

The Clams were the worst, though.
Beth – yeah, I’d rather join the Tiki Barber Cult with your husband. hahaha
Nightfly – sorry, I missed your comment before somehow – hahahahaha too funny – it is quite an imposing building. EW!!!
So, I’m 3 blocks away from this building right now…. staying at the Westin… so strange to be so close to one of your pictures….
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
Melissa – are you going to see any shows when you’re here? are you here with your kids? Have a great time! You’ve got great weather for it!! :)
I’m just sorry the Charmin monstrosity has closed.

Melissa – fun!! I haven’t seen spring awakenings yet – how was it?
I’m going to 110 in the Shade tomorrow night – cannot wait!!
