Review: She Dies Tomorrow (2020)
I really loved this. I love Amy Seimetz’s work in general (her first film, Sun Don’t Shine, is excellent). Incredible cast: Kate Lyn Sheil, Jane Adams, Chris Messina, Kentucker Audley, Josh Lucas, Michelle Rodriguez … fascinating premise. I reviewed for … Continue reading

Review: Yes, God, Yes (2020)
I enjoyed this. My review is over at Ebert.
Review: Flannery (2020)
I reviewed the new documentary about Flannery O’Connor for Ebert.
Review: Palm Springs (2020)
I really really liked this. It’s gonna be streaming on Hulu. Check it out. Its depth and poignancy surprised me, as well as how ROMANTIC it is. Supernatural referenced in the review. When you read it, you’ll know why. My … Continue reading
Review: Relic (2020)
Another very impressive first-time feature debut from an Australian director (the second being Babyteeth, which I recently reviewed), Relic is a haunted-house movie which truly – TRULY – creeped me out in its final sequence. Very good. Here’s my review.
Review: Suzi Q (2020) !!!!!!
I feel like I have been WAITING for this documentary about Suzi Quatro – glam rock rock star Queen of the 1970s – who inspired generations. If you don’t know about Suzi Quatro, please see this wonderful documentary and get … Continue reading
Review: All I Can Say (2020)
Documentary made up of the video footage Blind Melon lead singer Shannon Hoon took between the years of 1990-1995. All I can say is what I said in my review on Ebert.
Review: Babyteeth (2020)
I really liked Babyteeth, an Australian coming-of-age (but it’s more than that) story. Great cast. This Toby Wallace kid, wow. But all four leads are phenomenal. Highly recommended. My review at Ebert.

Review: Darkness Falls (2020)
Look at that awful poster. I reviewed the movie for Ebert.
Review: Shirley (2020)
Josephine Decker is one of my favorite new-ish filmmakers. I have been watching her very closely. Her latest is her most ambitious: a semi-fictionalized (based on a semi-fictionalized novel) film about Shirley Jackson, who is played by Elizabeth Moss. I … Continue reading
